Description
The Ginseng Cleansing Oil from Beauty of Joseon is a lightweight, micellar-style cleansing oil formulated to gently dissolve makeup, sunscreen, sebum and daily impurities while supporting the skin’s barrier and delivering a boost of antioxidant-rich Korean ginseng. According to the brand, the formula uses soybean oil as its base (chosen for its good spreadability and ability to dissolve impurities) plus ginseng seed oil to protect and condition the skin. It’s designed to be used as the first step in a double-cleanse routine: apply to dry skin, massage, emulsify and rinse, followed by a water-based cleanser.
Size: 210ML
Skin Type
Normal to dry skin — The oil base is nourishing and emollient, helpful for skin that feels tight or needs gentle makeup/sunscreen removal.
Combination skin — Works well as a first cleanse step to remove oil-based residues, even if secondary cleansing follows.
Sensitive or weakened barrier skin — Because the formulation emphasises gentle removal (micellar oil) and includes barrier-supporting oils (soybean, ginseng seed) it aligns with barrier repair goals. Given you have a damaged skin barrier and flaky dry patches, this aligns nicely.
Skin that uses sunscreen and/or makeup daily — This oil is designed to dissolve heavier residues (makeup, SPF) that water-based cleansers alone may struggle with.
Key Benefits
Efficient removal of makeup/sunscreen/impurities: The oil dissolves oil-based residues so your face is properly prepped for secondary cleansing and treatment.
Barrier-friendly cleansing: With soybean oil plus ginseng seed oil, the formula supports the skin rather than stripping it, which is important when your barrier is already weak/flaky.
Antioxidant & soothing support: Ginseng seed/root extracts provide antioxidant activity and help the skin resist environmental stressors and oxidative damage.
All-skin-types friendly: The brand states “for all skin types” including oily/blemish-prone skin, highlighting the base oil selection (soybean) chosen for minimal pore-clogging potential.
Micellar cleansing technology: Helps combine oil + water emulsification so the product rinses cleanly and helps avoid heavy leftover film — good for your skin that already struggles with flaky residue.

How to use
Dry face & dry hands: As the first step of your evening routine (especially if you wore sunscreen and/or makeup).
Dispense: Pump about 1–2 pumps of the cleansing oil onto your dry palm.
Massage onto dry skin: Gently massage the oil over the face (including forehead, cheeks, nose, chin) for ~30-60 seconds, focusing on areas that feel makeup/sunscreen-heavy or have sebum buildup.
Emulsify: Wet your hands slightly with warm water and continue to massage. The oil will emulsify (cloud/turn milky) as it mixes with water, which helps lift away residues.
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Follow with a gentle water-based (foam/gel/cream) cleanser (secondary cleanse) to complete removal of any residue and prep skin for treatment/repair.
Continue your routine: Apply your hydrating toner/essence → barrier-repair serum/cream etc. This is especially important with your barrier-status.
Frequency: Use nightly (or nights you wear sunscreen/makeup). On lighter days you may still use it to remove daily environmental buildup.
Tip for your skin condition: Because your barrier is weakened/flaky and you have occasional cystic acne, you may want to complement this oil with a soft cloth and gentle cleansing, avoid heavy scrubs after, and ensure your skin is well moisturised immediately after.
