Retinal is part of the retinoid family, which is derived from vitamin A. While vitamin A is essential for health, too much — especially in the form of retinoids — can be harmful to a developing baby.
How to use
Cleanse your face and apply your toner/essence.
Using the included spoon/spatula, scoop out two patches and apply under the eye area (one patch per eye) aligning the wing-shape to the outer area. According to the brand suggestions you may also apply to smile-lines, forehead or neck if desired.
Leave on for 20-30 minutes allowing the hydrogel to melt into the skin and deliver its essence.
Remove the patches and gently pat the remaining essence into the skin; do not rinse.
Follow with your serum/cream (especially your barrier-repair moisturiser) to lock in benefits. Because your barrier is fragile, prioritize your rich cream after this step.
Frequency: Use 1–2 times per week initially (or more if tolerated and needed) for best results. On nights your skin is feeling especially fragile or after strong treatments, you might skip this and just focus on soothing/repair.
Sun protection: On mornings following use of patches with retinal, ensure you apply broad-spectrum sunscreen since vitamin A derivatives can increase sun sensitivity.
Tip for your skin condition: Because you have flaky dry patches and occasional cystic acne:
On nights your skin is irritated or you’ve used stronger actives, you may use this patch but skip layering the rest of your strongest treatments.
Ensure you apply your barrier-repair cream immediately after the patch.
Patch test on a small area if your under-eye/jaw/cheek barrier is still flaky — apply the patch only 10–15 minutes first time and see how skin reacts.
